Summary & Rating
THE UPSIDE
FTMO is the longest running and highest trusted prop firm out there. The “OG” if you will. And if trust is the most important variable for you when choosing a firm, then FTMO is the one for you. FTMO also allows crypto payouts, supports MetaTrader, has a decent scaling plan and you are allowed to merge accounts. You are able to trade though news and hold trades over the weekend with the Swing option.
THE DOWNSIDE
Unfortunately outside of the Trust Rating, FTMO struggles on so many other fronts. It has high challenge fees and more difficult challenge requirements than other firms, giving it a very low Challenge Value Rating. The Swing option has low leverage and it is often difficult to open more than 1 or 2 trades, which is hard if you are a swing trader. The Swap fees are also a little high, so it is not the best option for a swing account either.
IN SUMMARY
FTMO is the most trusted firm in the industry and if trust is most important to you, then this firm is for you and we will recommend the Swing option. The biggest issue with the firm is the high challenge fees and requirements which gives it a very low Challenge Value Rating. With the Swing account option at least you wont get disqualified for triggering a trade during news, but the high swap fees and low leverage makes it less suitable for swing trading anyway. All things considered, it is a very trustworthy firm, but from a value perspective, there are better options out there so I wouldn’t add this as my first firm, but as I do spread my accounts accross multiple firms, I might add this one at a later stage. I rate it as Tier 3
